Job Summary
Assistant General Manager assists the GM with store merchandising and store operations to ensure proper merchandise assortment, inventory control, customer service, financial efficiency, and leadership development. Opens and closes the store, assumes responsibility when the GM is out, directly supervises Receiving, Customer Service, Maintenance, and Sales through Group Sales Managers, coordinates training and performance evaluations, implements advertising/marketing initiatives, maintains planograms and inventory levels, analyzes customer and business analytics to drive metrics, oversees payroll and operating expenses, and ensures a legendary customer experience with a team-focused environment.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 5+ years in big box, high volume management with responsibility for one or more Sales Departments and Receiving or Front End experience
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, commissions, and percentages
- Proficiency with PC-based word processing, spreadsheets, data-based management and electronic point of sale and inventory management systems
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to lead teams
- Experience in interviewing, hiring & training, planning, assigning and directing work
- Knowledge of merchandising, inventory control, and financial reporting
