Job Summary

Assistant General Counsel at USAC focusing on employment, regulatory, and corporate matters. Responsibilities include providing counsel to HR on labor and employment law, leading responses to pre-litigation matters (EEOC, DCOHR, and other agencies), drafting and revising policies and internal communications, managing all aspects of litigation with outside counsel, coordinating with the FCC on regulatory program matters, and handling contracts, procurement, IP, and bankruptcy issues. Immigration experience is a plus. Requires JD and bar admission, 3-5 years of related experience, and strong analytical and communication skills. In-house role in a large nonprofit with regular telework and a comprehensive benefits package.

Required Qualifications

  • Juris Doctorate from an ABA-accredited law school
  • Admission to at least one state bar
  • Three (3) to five (5) years of related experience (or exceptional candidates at all levels)
  • Experience with labor and employment law, particularly employment litigation and administrative adjudication processes
  • Experience with litigation and legal disputes at a mid-sized corporation or non-profit organization
  • Experience with the telecommunications industry (preferred but not required)
  • Experience with the federal Universal Service Fund Programs (a plus)
  • General corporate legal experience (e.g., contracts, corporate governance, employment, intellectual property)
  • Ability to communicate effectively with internal clients, Board, and external contacts
  • Proactive project leadership and strong written/oral communication skills
