Job Summary

The Assistant General Counsel, Labor & Employment will support Strive Health’s People Team across the full range of employment-law issues, oversee employment litigation, manage outside law firms, and advise on policy and contracting with labor-related suppliers. The role reports to the General Counsel and requires regular on-site presence at Strive Health’s Denver HQ (at least two days per week) with hybrid-remote flexibility. Responsibilities include advising on investigations, terminations, discrimination, harassment, accommodations, compensation, benefits, and recruiting; designing compliant employment practices; overseeing mediation, EEOC matters, and wage-and-hour disputes; drafting HR policies; negotiating contracts with labor-related vendors; selecting and managing external counsel to control costs; supporting compensation programs, restructurings, and cross-functional investigations; and providing training on employment-law topics. Minimum qualifications include a JD, active state-bar membership, and at least five years of labor and employment counseling and/or significant in-house experience, with healthcare-regulations familiarity preferred. Strong written/verbal communication, strategic business acumen, ability to influence decisions, and travel willingness are also required. The position offers a base salary range of $173k–$231k plus a target 30% bonus, with final compensation location-based; no work visa sponsorship is available.

Required Qualifications

  • JD required and membership in good standing with at least one state bar
  • Minimum 5 years’ labor and employment counseling and litigation experience in law firm or significant in-house counsel experience preferred
  • Background and experience in labor and employment related healthcare regulations strongly preferred
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Exceptional critical thinking ability with strong business acumen and judgment
  • Demonstrated history of partnering and influencing business decisions with data analyses
  • Strong leadership skills and ability to collaborate and respond quickly to urgent matters
  • Ability to travel and be on-site to meet business needs
  • Internet connectivity minimum speeds specified
