Job Summary
Provide in-house legal counsel and strategic guidance to the Sewer District on Labor & Employment and related public-entity matters. Responsibilities include offering legal advice to all departments, researching and handling a variety of legal issues, coordinating with outside counsel, managing casework and litigation strategy, advising on compliance with Ohio public laws (Public Records, Open Meetings), and supporting negotiation and administration of collective bargaining agreements. Requires JD, Ohio license, and ability to manage complex projects, draft policies, and represent the district in administrative and arbitration settings. Hybrid work eligibility may be discussed during the interview process.
Required Qualifications
- Juris Doctorate (JD) from an accredited law school
- Licensed to practice law in the State of Ohio and in good standing with the Supreme Court of Ohio
- No specific years of experience required for ACG I; five (5) years for ACG II; fifteen (15) years for ACG III
- Ability to negotiate, counsel and manage outside counsel
- Knowledge of federal, state, and local laws governing public entities
- Strong written and verbal communication, organizational and time-management skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
- Ability to handle multiple complex projects and time-critical deadlines
- Ability to read, analyze and interpret laws and regulations
- Ability to conduct legal research and draft contracts, filings, and reports
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
