Job Summary
Provide leadership and legal advice to Guardian's Financial Protection and Retirement Solutions business, focusing on retirement and income businesses including institutional and retail annuity products. Deliver counsel on insurance and securities laws, reinsurance transactions, and risk transfer strategies while negotiating agreements with third-party insurers, vendors, and administrators. Draft and review policy forms, reinsurance treaties, and administrative service agreements, and interface with state and federal regulators as needed. Mentor other attorneys to foster cross-training and team development.
Required Qualifications
- Law degree (J.D. or equivalent)
- Bar admission
- 8+ years of relevant experience either with a law firm, insurance company or other financial services institution
- Previous experience working on the development of annuities, life insurance and disability insurance products
- Visa Sponsorship: Guardian Life is not currently or in the foreseeable future sponsoring employment-based visas
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States, without the need for employer sponsorship/support now or at any time in the future
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with the development of institutional annuity products strongly preferred
- Previous experience interfacing with insurance regulatory bodies strongly preferred
- Experience working closely with actuaries, risk professionals and investments
