Job Summary
Draft, review, and negotiate a broad range of commercial agreements supporting AIG's global operations, including professional services, data licensing, SaaS, and vendor contracts. Partner directly with business and procurement teams to balance risk management with practical outcomes while providing guidance on legal risks, regulatory trends, and company policies. Coordinate with subject matter experts in privacy, cybersecurity, and intellectual property law to address key contract issues. Improve contract templates, playbooks, and processes to streamline turnaround times, and manage external advisors and outside counsel. This role reports to the Global Head of Branding & Sourcing Legal within AIG's Global Legal, Compliance, and Regulatory team.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree
- Bachelor of Law or equivalent
- Qualified to practice law in Japan
- 7+ years' experience drafting and negotiating commercial contracts at Big 5 law firms (or US/UK law firms) and in-house
- Business level of English
- Business level of Japanese
- Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills
- Proven ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities at once, and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams
- A sound, pragmatic, business-minded approach – focused on delivering high-quality, practical solutions on time
- Primarily in the office
