Job Summary

Assistant Gallery Manager responsible for frontline gallery operations at David Zwirner's New York locations. Duties include ensuring daily protocols for the Front Desk are followed (opening/closing, arming/disarming, daily readiness, SOP adherence, and ready-to-receive visitors), managing staff coverage and reassignments in response to call-outs, acting as first responder to real-time issues (security, emergencies, guest concerns), supporting onsite programming and events, overseeing gallery memberships and accounts, maintaining essential supply inventories, coaching and onboarding Gallery Assistants and Sales Interns, and coordinating with Facilities/Ops for maintenance and operational improvements. Requires 2+ years in a gallery/administrative role, a BA in Art History, Art Business, Humanities, or related field, strong customer service focus, outstanding organization and communication, and the ability to handle multiple tasks with initiative and problem-solving.

Required Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience as a gallery assistant or administrative support role at a gallery
  • BA in Art History, Art Business, Humanities, or related field
  • Knowledge of DZ artists, exhibitions, and collections
  • Commitment to providing excellent customer service
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Flexibility and adaptability
  • Strong multi-tasking skills with the ability to prioritize and anticipate needs
