Job Summary
Conduct game strategies and techniques coaching for student athletes to prepare them for competition while motivating them to appreciate the sport. Develop regular practice schedules and organize individual and team development sessions. Assess student skills, assign team positions, and determine game strategy based on team capabilities. Coach students on rules, regulations, equipment, and techniques, observing performance to identify improvement needs. Establish behavior standards, supervise athletes, and monitor academic eligibility. Confer with parents regarding athletic performance and participate in special activities like parent nights and pep assemblies. Maintain eligibility forms, emergency data cards, and equipment records. Follow established procedures for injuries, facility scheduling, and award policies.
Required Qualifications
- GED or higher
- High School Varsity or Collegiate level experience as an athlete or coach
- A basic knowledge of operations for computers and software, printers, projectors, telephone systems, fax machines and copiers
- Ability to learn new skills quickly and assimilate into daily work
- Ability to maintain high level of confidentiality both inside and outside the corporation
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment
- Ability to multi-task with attention to detail
- Ability to be flexible and adapt to changes of the normal day and expectations
- Proficiency in the use of all technology for the sport and record keeping
- Proficiency in the use of and the ability to learn required instructional software, ( i.e. Microsoft Office, Google Docs)
- Demonstrate organizational and time management skills
- Must be able to lift or move up to 40 pounds
- Close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
Desired Qualifications
- High School Head Coaching, college head coaching and/or college assistant coaching experience
