Job Summary
Assist the Director of Food Service in the overall preparation and presentation of meals; manage kitchen staff, oversee sanitation and safety practices, and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. Responsible for purchasing/ordering from established vendors, covering the DFS role in the Director's absence, and participating in hiring. Prepare and plate food using diverse methods, control portions, supervise training and orientation of new staff, maintain documentation (temperature logs, incident reports), and support resident dining experiences and community marketing initiatives. Demonstrate strong operational leadership, adaptability, and commitment to high hygiene and safety standards.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Technical/other training in food service
- Experience supervising kitchen staff
- Knowledge of food safety regulations (federal, state and local)
- Ability to manage purchasing/ordering of supplies
- Strong leadership and communication skills
