Assistant Food and Beverage Manager

Job Summary
Supervise, direct, and train banquet personnel including hourly servers, bartenders, concessionaires, and captains while ensuring proper event room setup according to diagrams. Coordinate equipment rentals, beverage, and linen arrangements to execute banquet functions that meet client specifications. Manage labor, beverage, and ancillary costs against yearly budgets, assist in hiring and terminating staff, and maintain payroll compliance. Organize concession services from staffing and menu selection to register programming, determine cash room needs, and monitor client needs to ensure satisfaction. Work inside or outside the facility in a fast-paced environment requiring extended hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays. Report to the Food & Beverage Manager at the Knoxville Convention Center.
Required Qualifications
- College degree and/or equivalent work experience in a comparable facility or related field
- Attention to detail
- Good oral and written communication skills
- Strong customer service skills
- Ability to adapt to changes in the work environment, managing competing demands, frequent changes, delays or unexpected events
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Good organizational skills
- Ability to multi-task and establish priorities
- ServSafe Certified or be able to obtain certification within 90 days
- TABC card or be able to obtain it within 90 days
- Ability to pass and maintain PCI compliance
- Ability to pass criminal background check
- Considerable skill in the use of personal computers and be knowledgeable in MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and computerized accounting systems
- Ability to work extended and/or irregular hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed
- Daily lifting up to 25 lbs
- Occasional lifting up to 50 lbs
- Constant standing, walking, stooping
- Constant reaching and handling products
- Ability to work extended hours productively
- Fast-paced, very physical environment
- Working in both indoor and outdoor settings
