Job Summary
Assistant Events Manager (Wedding Specialist) at Shangri-La Rasa Sayang, Penang & Shangri-La Golden Sands, Penang. Clustered post for Penang properties. Responsible for coordinating between the Events Management Department and Front Lines / Back-of-House Departments; managing all local events; collaborating with hotel staff to ensure high-quality guest service; developing ideas and solving recurring issues; engaging with guests to enhance service; creating an exceptional guest experience; guiding the events team to meet catering revenue goals; requires Diploma, Degree or relevant certification, with minimum 2 years in an international-class hotel and 2 years in a similar role; bilingual in English & Malay; strong interpersonal, detail-oriented, creative, leadership, and financial acumen; Malaysia citizen or permanent resident due to work-permit restrictions.
Required Qualifications
- Diploma, Degree or any relevant certification in the field
- Minimum 2 years of experience in an international class hotel and at least 2 years working experience in a similar position
- Effective bi-lingual both oral and written in the English & Malay
- Has strong interpersonal skills
- Is detail-oriented, creative and has the ability to drive change
- Strong leader with good financial acumen and excellent knowledge of the local market
- Ability to direct the events team to achieve the catering revenue goal as set by the hotel
