Job Summary
Assistant Estimator to support tender pricing for Public Services and Commercial projects. Responsibilities include assisting in the preparation of quotations, bids, and tenders; helping prepare supplier and subcontractor enquiries and reviewing quotations; supporting take-offs and quantity measurement for pricing; gathering materials, labour and plant information for tender submissions; contributing to tender breakdowns and value engineering options; liaising with colleagues, subcontractors, suppliers and clients to gather project information; attending internal or client meetings; supporting assessment of operational and commercial risks in bids; learning to measure projects using SMM7 or NRM (training provided). Hybrid working arrangement (3 days in the office, 2 days at home) in Stoke on Trent, England. The role targets someone with hands-on estimating experience at assistant/junior level, with a basic understanding of pricing and construction processes, and a motivation to develop into a confident estimator.
Required Qualifications
- Hands-on experience in construction estimating, cost planning or similar technical role at assistant/junior level
- basic understanding of pricing, measurements, or construction project processes
- strong written and verbal communication skills
- proficiency in Microsoft Office and openness to learning estimating software
- qualification within the construction sector is advantageous
