Assistant Engineering Manager

Job Summary

Plan, organize, and direct the mechanical maintenance program for facility systems including HVAC, plumbing, boilers, chillers, and air handlers. Supervise, train, and evaluate maintenance staff while assigning work orders and monitoring progress. Read blueprints and technical manuals to determine maintenance scope, oversee emergency repairs, and coordinate the on-call rotation. Manage contractor relationships, optimize system performance to reduce downtime, and maintain inventory of tools and spare parts. Document all activities in the CMMS, conduct quality assurance inspections, and support budget management. Perform hands-on maintenance during peak periods and events. Work flexible shifts including rotations, in both indoor and outdoor environments with exposure to varying temperatures and noise.

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED)
  • Associate or bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, Facilities Management, or a related field
  • Minimum seven (7) years of progressive experience in mechanical maintenance (HVAC, plumbing, and related systems)
  • At least two (2) years in a supervisory or lead role
  • Strong working knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, boilers, chillers, and other building mechanical systems
  • Working knowledge and operation of hand tools, power tools, and mechanical equipment (e.g., forklifts, scissor lifts, or skid loaders)
  • Available to attend all required training courses as a prerequisite for employment

  • Proactive in fostering positive interactions with guests and coworkers, maintaining respectful and friendly communication
  • Proficient in operating software on mobile platforms for maintenance tracking
