Job Summary
Entry-level Assistant Engineer and Data Scientist role focused on developing digital solutions for water systems, including near-real-time sensor data curation, multimodal sensor fusion, digital twins, predictive control, and predictive maintenance of water-related infrastructure. Responsibilities include model development/calibration for hydrologic, hydraulic, and hydrodynamic systems; automated QA/QC workflows for data ingestion, model validation, and calibration; preparing engineering deliverables and reports; designing closed-loop control logic linking field instrumentation, edge devices, and SCADA/PLC systems; communicating AI/ML and control-system approaches to varied audiences; staying current with AI/ML developments. Hybrid schedule supported in Cincinnati and Columbus, OH.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in environmental, civil, chemical, or mechanical engineering
- Strong grounding in fluid mechanics; exposure to computational fluid dynamics (CFD) valued
- Proficiency in Python (Pandas, NumPy, SciPy, scikit-learn); C/C++ a plus
- Strong communication, self-motivation, organization, attention to detail
- Familiarity with PLCs and SCADA systems; coursework/internship/pro experience
- Hands-on with embedded systems/microcontrollers (Arduino, Raspberry Pi); sensor interfacing and real-time processing
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
- 0-2 years of relevant experience
