Assistant Electrical Designer

Job Summary
Design overhead and underground distribution system layouts; prepare plan and profile drawings, single-line diagrams, Bills of Materials, and cable schedules; perform design calculations for conductor sizing, pole sizing, and conduit sizing; assist design engineers with power single-line diagrams, relay/metering diagrams, and communication block diagrams; leverage MicroStation, GIS, AutoCAD, and related tools; coordinate with lines engineers and other designers to ensure compliance with utility standards and procedures; relocate and trad-equip responsibilities span across hybrid/remote work options; advantageous experience with distribution utilities and CADD standards; strong communication skills and knowledge of IEEE/ANSI codes; eligibility includes an associate degree and 3-5 years of field experience in T&D.
Required Qualifications
- Associate degree in Electrical Engineering Technology
- 3-5 years of experience as Designer in Transmission and Distribution
- Experience in Toronto Hydro or other distribution utility CADD Standards
- Proficiency in Bentley MicroStation, GNET or similar GIS SW, ProjectWise, SAP
- AutoCAD proficiency is an asset
- Strong knowledge of North American codes and standards such as IEEE and ANSI
- Good written and verbal communication skills
