Assistant Educator - Split-Shift Position

Job Summary
Apply current legislative expectations to support a program consistent with Ministry of Education requirements and the organization's program statement. Engage with children to provide a positive, play-based learning experience, assisting with meals, toileting, dressing, and identifying those needing additional support. Foster ongoing communication with parents and collaborate with team members, school personnel, and outside agencies to address children's needs. Complete program charts, daily logs, and reports while using Storypark for pedagogical documentation. Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities. Provide guidance to students and volunteers as required. This fully in-centre position operates Monday through Friday in a before and after school program, requiring a split shift of 27.5 hours per week.
Required Qualifications
- A recent Vulnerable Sector Check
- Health assessment and record of immunization, as outlined by legislation
- Up-to-date certification in CPR-C and Standard First Aid
- Basic knowledge of the developmental needs of children and demonstrated ability to apply this knowledge
- Experience with inquiry/play based program design and implementation
- Experience with the use of pedagogical documentation
- Uses initiative; applies sound reason in solving problems and resolves conflict in a calm, professional manner
- Proven ability to communicate (written and verbal) effectively and establish appropriate relationships with families, coworkers and other professionals
- Have the physical and emotional stamina to effectively supervise children in a variety of settings including outdoor public spaces
- Ability to use computer systems and programs; including Dayforce, and Storypark
- Moderate level of physical effort is regularly required; including but not limited to kneeling, pushing, pulling, bending, and carrying
- Candidates must be available to work a split shift in a before and after school program
- Full-time Split Shift Position (27.5 hours/week): Candidates must be available to work a split-shift (morning and afternoon) in our Before & After School programs Monday-Friday
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with inquiry/play based program design and implementation, and with the use of pedagogical documentation an asset
