Job Summary
Assist the teaching staff by developing lesson plans aligned with state requirements and individual child needs. Collaborate with educators to monitor academic progress, deliver daily lessons, and manage classroom operations when teachers are absent. Work directly with children to promote their learning and development while providing regular feedback to the Lead Educator regarding child progress and important issues. Perform all duties consistent with the National Youth Advocate Program's mission and values. Requires bilingual fluency in English and Spanish, a valid driver's license, and reliable transportation.
Required Qualifications
- Associate degree in education and/or early childhood education
- 2+ years' experience as a Teacher Assistant or Paraprofessional, working with minority children in a classroom environment
- Proficient use of desktop and laptop computers, smartphones and tablets, printers, fax machines, and photocopiers, as well as software including word processing, spreadsheet, and database programs
- Bilingual (English Spanish)
- Fluency in Spanish
- Minimum automobile insurance coverage of $100,000/300,000 bodily liability coverage
- 21 years of age
- Valid state driver's license
- Reliable personal vehicle
- Good driving record
- Ability to travel frequently and drive vehicle while sitting for extended periods, with frequency varying based on program demands
Desired Qualifications
- Valid ECE certification preferred
