Job Summary
Assistant Educator to deliver developmentally appropriate, play-based early childhood education in a casual supply, in-centre setting across Barrie PS locations. Responsibilities include assisting with meals/snacks, toileting/diapering, dressing; engaging children in learning experiences; communicating with parents; maintaining program documentation and daily logs; using Storypark for pedagogical documentation; collaborating with team and external agencies; guiding students and volunteers; identifying children needing additional support and helping families access resources; ensuring compliance with Ministry of Education requirements and organizational guidelines. Requires Vulnerable Sector Check, CPR-C and Standard First Aid, and the ability to work a split shift in before/after school programs; prior experience with inquiry/play-based design and Dayforce/Storypark familiarity preferred.
Required Qualifications
- A recent Vulnerable Sector Check
- Health assessment and immunization as outlined by legislation
- Up-to-date certification in CPR-C and Standard First Aid (training provided upon selection if required)
- Basic knowledge of developmental needs of children
- Experience with inquiry/play-based program design and implementation
- Ability to use computer systems (Dayforce, Storypark)
- Proven communication skills (written and verbal) with families and professionals
- Physical and emotional stamina to supervise children in various settings
- Ability to guide and support children and families
- Willingness to participate in ongoing professional development
- Access to and use of required tools and systems (Dayforce, Storypark)
