Job Summary
Conduct expert-level screening of new manuscript submissions to assess suitability, scope, and integrity, providing clear decision rationales aligned with journal policy. Select and manage reviewers to obtain high-quality peer reports, evaluate feedback to make well-reasoned decisions on acceptance, rejection, or revision, and identify alternative journals for rejected manuscripts. Commission articles and special issues in alignment with strategic publishing goals, managing the pipeline for invited content including reminders and tracking. Analyze performance reports to identify trends for improving the peer review process and collaborate with senior editors to share knowledge and enhance team performance. Requires a PhD in a relevant natural sciences field with postdoctoral research experience, preferably in Engineering, Technology, or Nanoscience, and international research experience.
Required Qualifications
- A PhD in a relevant natural sciences field
- Currently, we are primarily looking for subject matter experts in: Engineering, Technology & Nanoscience (e.g., electronic devices, MEMS/NEMS, nano materials,)
Desired Qualifications
- Postdoctoral research experience is highly desirable
- International research experience at a university or institute outside your home country is highly preferred
- A genuine passion for science communication and the ability to rapidly broaden your knowledge across related research disciplines
- A solid understanding of the scholarly publishing and peer-review process, gained through experience as an author, reviewer, or editor
