Job Summary
Lead a team of reporters covering climate, education, religion, infrastructure and labor for The Metro; direct ideas for news and enterprise and assign/edit stories; collaborate with reporters and the desk, including visual journalism teams, to produce enterprise coverage and innovative storytelling forms using digital tools; uphold journalistic independence and the Times' mission; role reports to the Metro Editor; this in-office position is based in New York with four days in the office weekly and potential remote flexibility, and requires managing reporters and guiding coverage within a fast-paced newsroom.
Required Qualifications
- 10+ years' experience at a journalism or media company or other relevant organization
- Editing skills that demonstrate mastery of journalistic style and standards, including ethical and superb news judgment
- Previous experience directly managing and editing reporters
