Job Summary
Represent the State of Texas and citizens of Harris County in criminal proceedings across District, County, and Family Courts. On a daily basis, interact with law enforcement from arrest through case disposition, interview victims and witnesses, and negotiate with the defense bar. Evaluate cases to determine proper outcomes, including plea agreements, diversion, dismissal, or trial, while preparing for contested matters and jury trials. Present evidence and advocate to a jury or trier of fact. Grow as an attorney and advocate while mentoring junior prosecutors. Newly licensed attorneys serve in the Professional Development Bureau, while experienced attorneys handle felony cases in specialized areas such as Crimes against Children, Human Trafficking, Mental Health and Diversions, Domestic Violence, and Homicide.

- Evaluate cases to determine the proper outcome to achieve justice, which may include a plea agreement, diversion, dismissal or trial
- Prepare cases for contested matters including jury trials
- Present evidence and advocate to a jury or trier of fact
- Grow as an attorney and advocate while mentoring junior prosecutors
