Job Summary
Assistant Director, Student Employment at DePaul University oversees the student employment learning and development program, including Professional Development Series, Peer Trainer Program, and Iowa GROW initiatives. Responsible for coordinating and facilitating educational initiatives for student employees and managers, delivering supervisor/manager training on recruiting, hiring, and development, performing needs assessments, maintaining resource libraries, evaluating program impact, and collaborating with campus partners to design online and blended learning resources. Also oversees LMS workflow (enrollment, completion, evaluation), creates modules, maps the career curriculum, and assists with HR processes (hiring paperwork, ICPs, terminations, job approvals). Supervises 1 graduate student project coordinator and 1 undergraduate office assistant, with potential team expansion. Requires collaboration across stakeholders, strong facilitation and presentation skills, and ability to manage multiple tasks in a dynamic university environment. Location flexibility includes Loop and Lincoln Park campuses; anticipated salary range $51,740–$64,000/year. Master’s degree preferred; Bachelor’s degree required. Occasional weekend/evening work.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree required
- 3-5 years experience in career development, higher education, human resources, training and development, or instructional design
- Strong presentation/facilitation skills
- Strong sense of initiative; good judgement on when to work independently and involve team as needed
- Demonstrated organizational skills and ability to prioritize competing tasks within dynamic environment
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Master's preferred
- Supervisory and training experience and peer mentor program management
- Familiarity with software/platforms: Canva, Qualtrics, student information systems (e.g. PeopleSoft), learning management systems (e.g. D2L, Canvas), curriculum authoring tools (e.g. Adobe Captivate, Articulate), and Career Management Systems (e.g. Handshake)
- Knowledge and application of adult learning models
- Ability to incorporate experiential learning activities into training & facilitation to meet the needs and culture of audience
