Job Summary
Lead the Sports Medicine program for intercollegiate athletics, coordinating staffing assignments, scheduling, and administration of services. Provide athletic training services by evaluating, managing, treating, and rehabilitating injuries, while staffing the Hill Center or A&E Center Clinic and attending home practices and games. Serve as a preceptor for graduate students, perform mandatory baseline concussion testing, and plan pre-participation sport screenings. Counsel student-athletes on conditioning, represent Athletic Training as a consultant to coaching staff, and act as a liaison with physicians, parents, and coaches to determine treatment options and return-to-play decisions. Maintain accurate medical records and forward injury reports for insurance filing.
Required Qualifications
- 5 - 7 years of experience at the collegiate level as an ATC with demonstrated knowledge and ability in program administration
- Certification and Membership in the NATA (National Athletic Trainer's Association)
- CPR/First Aid Certification
- Experience in planning and executing athletic training services competitive athletics teams
- Ability to cultivate an inclusive, diverse and welcoming environment

- Demonstrated ability to hold others accountable for behavior that is supportive of a community that is diverse and inclusive
- Extensive knowledge of various word processing, spreadsheet and database software applications
- Excellent organizational, interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills

- Master's Degree in exercise science, nutrition, sports management, or related field
- travel to contests during post-season for assigned teams

- Perform mandatory baseline concussion testing for incoming students in assigned sports
- Attend introductory team meetings and present athletic training information for assigned sports
- Plan and participate in all pre-participation sport screenings and the medical clearance process
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records on injured athletes
- Obtain sports injury reports from injured athletes and forward to the insurance and referral coordinator for filing with the College athletic injury insurance plan
- Represent Athletic Training and Serve as consultant to coaching staff on conditioning, nutrition, and protective equipment
- assist with prevention of injuries including education for athletes, identifying factors that put athletes at risk, correcting deficiencies in athletes as deemed necessary, as well as taping and bracing
- Serve as liaison with parents, sports medicine physicians, health center staff, athletic trainers, and coaches in determining the best treatment options for the patient
- Assist the team physician in determining if a player may return to competition
- Serve as host athletic trainer for league, regional and national championships competition held at Ithaca College
