Assistant Director, Recreation and Intramural Sports

Job Summary
Develop, schedule, and evaluate Intramural Sports, Club Sports, and Summer Camp programs while overseeing revenue-generating initiatives like adult leagues and youth sports. Recruit, train, and supervise coaches, camp counselors, and intramural officials; manage marketing strategies to recruit participants and track revenue, expenses, and program performance. Oversee the eSports Café, coordinate gym and field space usage, and maintain equipment inventory. Serve as the departmental liaison with students, faculty, families, and community partners, assisting with budget creation, profit-and-loss reporting, and policy implementation. Conduct official clinics as needed and participate in professional development seminars.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Recreation Management, Sports Management, Kinesiology, Business Administration, Education, Higher Education, or a related field
- Minimum of three years of progressive experience in campus recreation, recreational sports, youth programming, summer camp administration, adult leagues, intramural sports, athletics, or a related program management setting
- Experience supervising, training, scheduling, and evaluating student employees, part-time staff, officials, coaches, camp counselors, or program staff
- Experience planning, coordinating, marketing, and evaluating structured programs, leagues, tournaments, camps, clinics, or youth/adult recreational programs
- Experience with budget tracking, revenue monitoring, registration systems, spreadsheets, participation data, or basic profit-and-loss reporting for fee-based programs
Desired Qualifications
- Master's degree in Recreation Management, Sports Management, Higher Education, Business Administration, Public Administration, Kinesiology, or a related field
- Experience managing revenue-generating recreational programs, including adult leagues, youth programs, summer camps, tournaments, clinics, memberships, or other fee-based services
- Experience with youth program operations, including parent communication, staff-to-participant ratios, behavior management, risk management, and camp or clinic logistics
