Assistant Director of Student Services

Assist in the implementation, administration, and management of the district's special education programs. Coordinate services for students with academic, functional, and/or social, emotional and behavioral needs who require specialized instruction through IEPs during the regular school year and during extended school year (ESY); ensure the effective implementation of services within the least restrictive environment, inclusive of specialized in-district programs and the provision of related services, including speech/language therapy, occupational therapy, physical therapy, services for Blind or Visually Impaired students, and services for the Deaf or Hard of Hearing; oversee transitional processes, including transition from early intervention to school-aged services and transition school-aged IEP services to post-secondary life; and, collaborate and coordinate across departments, agencies, and within families to ensure a comprehensive plan of support for students with special needs. Primary duties include developing and administering the district's special services plans, ensuring alignment with legal guidelines in regard to IEPs, providing leadership in planning and implementing instructional, functional, social/emotional/behavioral and related services for students with IEPs, including transitional periods, ensuring service delivery with the least restrictive environment, coordinating extended school year for qualifying students, supervising special education staff, aiding in budgeting for programs, and supporting building-level logistics for specialized instruction and supports. Secondary duties include in-service programs, equipment/purchases approvals, interviews for staff, communications with administrators and educators, and other duties as assigned.
