Job Summary
Plan, develop, organize, implement, and direct the nursing service department while developing and updating policies and procedures. Determine staffing needs, calculate direct nursing personnel on duty each shift, and develop work assignments and schedule duty hours. Make daily rounds to ensure personnel perform assignments, review complaints and grievances, and ensure fair disciplinary action. Participate in resident admission interviewing and create written plans of care for each resident. Prepare and plan the department's budget, attend nursing service meetings, and complete medical forms, reports, and evaluations.
Required Qualifications
- Must demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age-related needs of the residents served
- Must be knowledgeable of nursing and medical practices and procedures, as well as laws, regulations, and guidelines that pertain to nursing care facilities
- Must have patience, tact, a cheerful disposition and enthusiasm, as well as willingness to handle difficult residents
- Must be a graduate of an approved Registered Nurse program
- Must maintain a current, unencumbered, active license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state
- Must have, as a minimum, one (1) year of experience as a supervisor in a hospital, nursing care facility, or other related health care facility
- Must be able to push, pull, move, and /or lift a minimum of 25 pounds to a minimum height of 5 feet
- Must be able to push, pull, move, and/or carry such weight a minimum distance of 50 feet
- Must possess sight/hearing senses, or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately so that the requirements of this position can be fully met
- Must meet the general health requirements set forth by the policies of this facility, which include a mental and physical examination
- Must be able to relate to and work with ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset, and at times hostile people within the facility
- Works beyond normal duty hours, on weekends, and in other positions temporarily, when necessary
Desired Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing preferred
- Prefer a minimum (6) months experience in rehabilitative and restorative nursing practices
