Assistant Director of Nursing

Job Summary
Conduct daily nursing rounds to monitor care delivery and assess residents for appropriate levels of care. Oversee nursing and caregiving staff, including resident assistants and medication technicians, while managing medication administration and self-administered medications. Assist in developing in-service education programs and participate in interdisciplinary meetings to coordinate resident health and safety information. Define nursing practice standards, support policy formation, and provide interim documentation for resident files. Interview, hire, train, and evaluate the care team to increase occupancy while prioritizing resident wellbeing and independence.
Required Qualifications
- Graduation from an accredited nursing school
- Current state license for LPN or RN
- 3+ years of nursing experience
- CPR and BLS certification
- Working knowledge of best person-directed care practices for seniors, including those with dementia
- Knowledgeable of and experienced in conducting preadmission assessments, training, and education to staff, residents, and family members
- Basic understanding of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
- Ability to lift up to fifty (50) pounds independently
- Ability to lift up to 200 pounds with assistance
- Ability to walk or stand for extended periods
- Ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
- Ability to climb or balance
- Ability to communicate effectively and identify/interpret written information
- Ability to follow all infection prevention and control protocols, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Ability to stay current on all training and ongoing education initiatives
- Ability to actively pursue self-improvement and embrace opportunities for continuous learning
- Ability to work well with others
- Ability to take direction from management
- Ability to take initiative with the capability to engage in conflict intervention and resolution for residents, families, employees, and others
- Ability to understand the resident's Advance Directives and follow their wishes
- Ability to ensure effective communication is being utilized by community staff with the residents' families concerning residents' care
- Ability to interview, hire, train, supervise, evaluate, and retain a high-performing resident care team
- Ability to engage in efforts to increase occupancy rates while prioritizing the wellbeing of our residents
- Ability to promote the physical, personal, and emotional wellbeing of each resident
- Ability to return the resident to their maximum level of self-care and independence, when possible
- Ability to provide reasonable accommodations to qualified individuals with disabilities
- Successful completion of a background check
- Successful completion of a drug screening
- Participation in required health assessments (such as TB testing or physical evaluations)
- Use of designated personal protective equipment (PPE) as required by company policy and applicable law
