Job Summary

Supervise nursing staff and ensure policies and procedures are followed to protect the rights, dignity, and health of incarcerated patients. Collaborate with medical, mental health, and correctional staff to enhance quality patient care while maintaining a safe environment. Assist the Director of Nursing in managing staffing needs, hiring, training, and performance evaluations. Create and manage staffing schedules, monitor compliance with ACA and NCCHC standards, and ensure equipment and pharmaceuticals are stocked. Conduct daily clinical rounds, assist in triage and minor procedures, and develop staff through in-service training. Maintain accurate patient records and mitigate risks by addressing potential hazards. Requires an Arizona RN license, BLS CPR certification, and two years of correctional healthcare management experience.

Required Qualifications

  • Holds a current, unrestricted license as a Registered Nurse in Arizona
  • Must possess an active BLS CPR Certification (AHA required)
  • Two years of clinical and progressive management experience providing comprehensive medical, dental, and mental healthcare services within a correctional healthcare or acute care setting
  • Ability to manage complex staffing matrices and clinical supplies
  • Excellent communication skills with proven experience managing and training medical staff
  • Knowledge of nursing practice principles and techniques, occupational health and safety standards, infectious disease management, applicable health care laws, regulations, and procedures for direct health care services
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of all proprietary and/or confidential information
  • Integrity, professionalism and ability to adhere to a Code of Conduct and comply with all facility(s) correctional healthcare policies, procedures, and legal requirements
  • Must pass the facility's criminal background check and drug screening
  • Must have the ability to stand for long periods
  • Must have the ability to lift and move patients (up to 50 pounds)
  • Must have the ability to bend, squat, reach, push, pull, walk significant distances
  • Must have the ability to perform physically demanding tasks like CPR
  • Must have the ability to maintain good balance and endurance throughout a shift
