Job Summary
Plan, organize, and direct the day-to-day functions of the nursing department in accordance with federal, state, and local standards. Develop and update written policies, procedures, and nursing service objectives while ensuring all personnel follow their respective job descriptions. Make daily rounds, monitor medication passes and treatment schedules, and ensure sufficient licensed and unlicensed staff are available for each shift. Assist the Director in staffing needs, recruitment, performance evaluations, and facility surveys. Coordinate nursing services with other resident services, maintain clean and sanitary work areas, and ensure compliance with safety and infection control protocols.
Required Qualifications
- Registered Nurse (RN)
- Nursing Degree from an accredited college or university
- Current unencumbered state license
- 2 years of experience as a supervisor in a hospital, nursing care facility, or other related health care facility
- 6 months experience in rehabilitative and restorative nursing practices
- Current CPR Certification
- Ability to read, write, speak and understand the English language
- Ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action
- Ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel, and general public
- Knowledge of nursing and medical practices and procedures, as well as laws, regulations, and guidelines that pertain to nursing care facilities
- Patience, tact, a cheerful disposition and enthusiasm, as well as the willingness to handle difficult residents
- Ability to relate information concerning a resident's condition
- Ability to move intermittently throughout the day
- Ability to cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position
- Ability to see and hear or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately
- Ability to function independently, and have flexibility, personal integrity, and the ability to work effectively with residents, personnel, and support agencies
- Ability to push, pull, move and/or lift a minimum of 25 pounds to a minimum height of 5 feet and be able to push, pull, move, and/or carry such weight a minimum distance of 50 feet
- Ability to meet the general health requirements set forth by the policies of this facility, which include a medical and physical examination
