Job Summary
Lead and mentor Civil Rights Investigators within the Civil Rights Compliance Office, providing operational guidance and strategic direction for investigations of protected-class discrimination, harassment, and sexual misconduct. Oversee case management lifecycle, review documentation, develop investigative procedures, train investigators, represent Investigations in meetings with campus partners, and ensure timely, trauma-informed, confidential investigations with neutrality. Acts as Title IX investigator for student and employee cases, collaborates with campus offices, maintains privacy per FERPA and related policies, and supports policy/process reviews. May assist with adjudicating student misconduct, participate in trainings, and manage complex, sensitive investigations while upholding compliance with university policies and federal/state guidance. Requires a Master’s degree (preferred) and extensive experience in civil rights compliance or related fields; prior supervisory experience; strong interpersonal and organizational skills; ability to manage confidential information and coordinate with external resources.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in social work, student affairs, counseling, higher education, public health, law or related field
- A minimum of Five (5) years of relevant experience
- Knowledge of laws and regulations that pertain to students, faculty and university staff, including Title IX, Clery Act, Title VI, Title VII, Section 504, the Americans with Disabilities Act, and other civil rights laws
- demonstrated success in completing complex tasks independently
- strong analytical and written communication skills
- prior supervisory responsibilities
- experience with data or record verification duties in large databases
- ability to maintain neutrality and handle highly sensitive information
Desired Qualifications

- Experience with trauma-informed support services
- Experience with investigations and case management in civil rights or related fields
- Master’s degree in social work, student affairs, counseling, higher education, public health, law or related field (preferred)
- Experience with NAVEX and/or Maxient databases (preferred)
- Ability to manage highly sensitive and confidential information
- Strong analytical and written/interpersonal skills
- Leadership or supervisory experience
- FERPA compliance experience
- Experience representing a unit or department with internal/external stakeholders
