Job Summary
Oversee the Housekeeping Department by ensuring daily cleaning of guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house spaces meets Highgate Hotel standards. Manage large turn days, conduct pre-shift meetings, and inspect rooms daily while monitoring out-of-order and show rooms. Coordinate staff scheduling, payroll hours, and inventory controls for supplies and amenities. Respond to guest requests, complaints, and accidents through reservations, comment cards, and phone calls, maintaining constant communication with Guest Services. Handle emergency situations using MSD sheets, manage key control, and ensure compliance with risk management and safety protocols. Balance room status reports nightly and track work orders with Engineering. Attend weekly staff meetings to provide rotational training and maintain employee morale. Monitor VIPs and special requests, ensuring overall guest satisfaction and contributing to Guest Service Scores.
Required Qualifications
- At least 2 years of progressive experience in a hotel or a related field
- 4-year college degree
- 2-year college degree and 1 or more years of related experience
- Supervisory experience
- Proficiency in Windows
- Proficiency in Company approved spreadsheets
- Proficiency in word processing
- Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and written
- Ability to listen to, understand, and clarify concerns raised by employees and guests
- Ability to multitask and prioritize departmental functions to meet deadlines
- Ability to handle problems, including anticipating, preventing, identifying and solving problems as necessary
- Ability to understand and evaluate complex information, data, etc. from various sources to meet appropriate objectives
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of information
- Ability to maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming
- Ability to wear nametags
- Ability to comply with Highgate Hotel Standards and regulations

- Ability to review Housekeeping log book and Guest Request log on a daily basis
- Ability to properly store, secure and issue supplies as needed
- Ability to ensure completion of regular maintenance and cleaning projects on a biannual basis

- Ability to balance and clear room status nightly
- Ability to compare the p.m. housekeeping report with the PMS room status report
- Ability to resolve any discrepancies
- Ability to assist in reviewing Housekeeping staff's worked hours for payroll compilation

- Ability to maintain Highgate Hotel SOP's regarding Purchase Orders

- Ability to assist the Director of Housekeeping in inspecting all VIP rooms prior to arrival
- Ability to monitor out-of-order, out-of-service, discrepant and show rooms
- Ability to respond to emergency situations using information contained in MSD sheets
- Ability to keep MSD sheets current and easily available
- Ability to monitor work orders and submit to Engineering
- Ability to follow up on work orders to ensure completion
- Ability to conduct pre-shift meetings for room attendants and housemen
- Ability to maintain an organized and comprehensive filing system
- Ability to use the telephone and computer system for reporting and verifying room status
- Ability to record all valet laundry
- Ability to check and review incoming laundry at end of day
- Ability to assist in maintaining required pars of all Housekeeping and Laundry supplies
- Ability to order all needed supplies and amenities on a monthly or quarterly basis
- Ability to assist in conducting monthly and quarterly Housekeeping inventories
- Ability to assist in maintaining and controlling all housekeeping equipment
- Ability to ensure that employees are, at all times, attentive, friendly, helpful and courteous
- Ability to respond to all guest requests, problems, complaints and/or accidents
- Ability to follow up to ensure guest satisfaction
- Ability to ensure the operation of the Housekeeping Department
