Assistant Director of Housekeeping

Job Summary

Supervise and lead housekeeping team, including hiring, training, and performance management of assigned managers, supervisors, and attendants. Develop and implement cleaning protocols and standards to ensure the highest level of cleanliness in guest rooms, public areas, and service zones. Create and manage housekeeping schedules to meet occupancy demands while maintaining inventory and adhering to budgetary guidelines. Regularly inspect all resort areas using designated checklists to verify compliance with Pier Sixty-Six, AAA, and Forbes Travel Guide standards, directly contacting team members to correct deficiencies. Collaborate with front office and engineering to resolve maintenance issues and implement safety measures for chemical handling and equipment use. Monitor department performance through guest feedback and cleanliness scores, while developing annual budgets and forecasting expenses. Continuously seek ways to enhance guest experiences with new amenities and services aligned with the luxury brand image.

Required Qualifications

  • 2 years' experience as an Assistant Department Head
  • 5 years of Supervisory experience in a luxury resort or hotel
  • Knowledge of proper cleaning techniques and chemical handling, as well as requirements and use of equipment
  • High school graduate, or experience equivalent
  • Fluency in English both verbal and non-verbal. Provide legible communication.
  • Ability to perform job functions with attention to detail, speed, and accuracy
  • Ability to prioritize and organize
  • Ability to be a clear thinker, remaining calm and resolving problems using good judgment
  • Ability to follow directions thoroughly
  • Ability to understand guest's service needs
  • Ability to work cohesively with co-workers as part of a team
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of guest information and pertinent hotel data
  • Ability to ascertain departmental training needs and provide such training
  • Ability to direct performance of team members and follow up with corrections when needed
