Job Summary
Lead planning, development, and execution of School's Out Days, after-school enrichment classes, Kids Night Out, and Birthday Parties for Kindergarten through 5th grade. Serve as Assistant Camp Director for Camp Shalom, overseeing daily operations, staff supervision, and camper care. Manage program logistics, marketing, registration, and billing while coordinating with vendors and families. Direct staff hiring and supervision across all youth programs to ensure high-quality engagement and safety. Maintain comprehensive knowledge of departmental operations and enforce JCC policies and safety standards. Work closely with the Director and Family & Youth Engagement Coordinator to drive community connection and program growth.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
- Demonstrated experience working with Kindergarten – 5th grade children in a camp, afterschool, recreation, or youth development setting
- Prior leadership experience in a summer camp, youth program, afterschool program, or similar organization, with experience supervising and supporting staff
- Strong leadership presence with the ability to build relationships, motivate staff, provide direction, and hold others accountable
- Demonstrated operational leadership and problem-solving skills, with the ability to anticipate needs, navigate challenges, make sound decisions, and ensure strong day-to-day execution
- Strong sense of ownership and accountability, with the initiative to independently drive programs, projects, and responsibilities from planning through execution
- Highly organized and able to successfully manage multiple programs, priorities, deadlines, and operational responsibilities simultaneously
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to effectively engage children, families, staff, vendors, and community partners
- Collaborative and team-oriented, with the ability to work closely with the Director while also independently leading programs and departmental initiatives
- Flexible and adaptable, with the ability to shift priorities and step in wherever needed in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
- Strong work ethic, attention to detail, and commitment to delivering high-quality programs and experiences
- Proficient with Microsoft Office
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs
- Ability to work extended periods of time at a keyboard or workstation
- Ability to stand, walk, and engage in activities with kids for extended periods of time
- Flexibility to work various schedules as needed
Desired Qualifications
- experience with registration, scheduling, or program management software preferred
- Experience working in an inclusive childcare setting or supporting children with varying needs is a plus
