Job Summary

Assistant Director of Dining Services sought to lead and oversee daily dining operations across all venues in a senior living community. Responsibilities include on-site leadership during peak periods, staffing and scheduling, ensuring service standards and resident satisfaction, coordinating with culinary leadership, managing labor deployment and budgeting, enforcing sanitation and regulatory compliance, and driving continuous improvements in the dining experience. The role requires collaboration with multiple departments, strong people leadership, experience with dining systems and billing, and a ServSafe certification (or CDM) with the ability to obtain/maintain required certifications. The position emphasizes delivering high-quality hospitality aligned with the organization’s standards and managing performance, training, and operational efficiency.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Associate’s degree or higher in Hospitality Management, Food Service Management, Culinary Arts, or related field
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Minimum 4–6 years of progressive dining, hospitality, or food service management experience
  • Experience with staffing, scheduling, and daily operations in high-volume dining
  • Experience with financial oversight including labor management and cost control
  • Experience with POS systems, dining technology platforms, and billing systems
  • Experience with food safety and regulatory requirements
  • Leadership responsibility in absence of department head
  • Current ServSafe certification or must obtain within 30 days of hire
  • Knowledge of food safety/sanitation requirements and procedures
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to maintain records and complete reports
  • Ability to adjust actions and improve performance
  • Dress code compliance
  • Ability to work nights, weekends and some holidays

Desired Qualifications

  • Certified Dietary Manager (CDM)
  • ServSafe Certification
  • ServSafe certification (current or within 30 days of hire)
  • Associate’s degree or higher in Hospitality Management, Food Service Management, Culinary Arts, or related field
  • Experience in healthcare or senior living dining services
  • Leadership/management experience in high-volume dining environments
  • Experience with POS systems, dining technology platforms, and billing systems
  • Budgeting and cost-control experience (labor, food, supplies)
  • Regulatory compliance and food safety knowledge
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to lead teams, staffing, scheduling, and performance coaching
