Job Summary
Assistant Director in an alternative school environment, supporting the Director in developing and maintaining an effective educational program aligned with state and federal guidelines. Leads professional development and program improvement initiatives, fuels the district’s continuous improvement plan, and helps transform school culture into a collaborative, results-oriented community of learners. Oversees requisitions and inventories, promotes a safe, differentiated instructional environment, ensures conduct and attendance compliance, coordinates student programs and support services, and collaborates with teachers and specialists to modify instruction to meet diverse student needs. Participates in district committees, supports parental involvement and effective communication with students and families, and coaches staff in classroom management, student discipline, and behavior planning. Requires Master’s in administration, Bachelor’s in Education, Secondary Principal Certification, and a minimum of 3–5 years teaching/administration experience; holds a valid Motor Vehicle Operator’s License or reliable transportation; 220-day contract terms.
Required Qualifications
- Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university in administration
- Bachelor’s Degree in Education
- Secondary Principal Certification
- Motor Vehicle Operator's License or ability to provide own transportation
- Three to five years teaching experience (preferred)
- Successful experience as an administrator, specialist, instructional coach, or lead teacher (preferred)
- Experience in alternative school programs (preferred)
- Knowledge of middle and high school curriculum, instructional strategies, and assessments
- Ability to use data information systems and perform data analysis
- Understanding of applicable federal and state laws regarding education
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to supervise and evaluate staff and participate in program improvement
- Travel to district buildings and professional meetings as required
