Job Summary
The Assistant Director of Veterans Benefits serves as the Veterans Benefits School Certifying Official (SCO) within the Student Financial Services Office. Responsibilities include certifying benefits with the Department of Veterans Affairs, communicating with students via phone, email, and the message center, staying current on VA regulations, assisting with documentation processing, helping develop and update unit processes, and liaising with the VA. The role supports a hybrid work arrangement with two days on-site in Albany, NY and flexible remote days, operating around core hours 8:30 AM–5:00 PM for a 37.5-hour workweek. Qualifications include a Bachelor’s degree and at least 2 years of experience in higher education; experience with veteran students and distance learning is preferred.
