Job Summary

Review, investigate, adjudicate, and manage student conduct cases as a university hearing officer. Serve as administrator for hearing boards and facilitate alternative resolution processes. Coordinate and facilitate programming and annual training for students, campus partners, and University hearing officers. Assist in creating and assessing annual learning outcomes and program goals. Prepare and distribute statistical reports related to student conduct. Represent the Office of Community Standards at divisional and institutional meetings. Collaborate on periodic review and revision of the Student Code of Conduct and office protocols. Participate in required professional development training to maintain compliance with state and federal laws. This 12-month, 100% time, on-campus position at Miami University is annually renewable.

Required Qualifications

  • Earned bachelor's degree from an appropriately accredited institution
  • 1 year of full time experience or two years of graduate assistant experience related to student conduct, case management, and/or accountability
  • Demonstrated technological knowledge and computer literacy
  • Demonstrated knowledge of current issues in the field of student conduct, applicable legal and compliance issues, and best practices related to student conduct
  • Demonstrated commitment to student-centered practice
  • Excellent administrative, time management, and organizational skills
  • Commitment to high ethical practice and discretion when working with sensitive, confidential information
  • Demonstrated professional judgement and measured decision-making
  • Conflict de-escalation skills and the ability to maintain composure when working with distressed individuals
  • A criminal background check is required

Desired Qualifications

  • Earned master's degree from an appropriately accredited institution in Student Affairs, Higher Education, or related field, conferred by the position start date
  • Demonstrated experience with Maxient Software
  • Demonstrated assessment skills; ability to analyze, summarize, and effectively present data/results
  • Exceptional interpersonal, presentation, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Eagerness to work collaboratively and effectively with a wide range of stakeholders (e.g., students, faculty, staff, and community agencies)
  • Knowledge, understanding, and effective application of human and student development theories
  • Crisis management and emergency response skills; including an ability to manage high-pressure situations ethically, effectively, efficiently, and consistently
