Job Summary
Direct junior high instrumental program: direct and manage the band program, supervise performances and activities, ensure compliance with UIL/TMEA and district requirements, plan and prepare for student recognition at district/state levels, coordinate transportation for off-campus events, recruit and supervise band members, manage budgets and resources, plan lessons with accommodations for individual student differences, participate in district music events, and engage with booster club activities. Requires directing large ensembles, coordination of performances and trips, and maintaining equipment and inventory; emphasize administration, instructional planning, and leadership within Katy ISD band programs.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree from accredited university
- Valid Texas teaching certificate
- Knowledge of instrumental music program
- Ability to manage budget and personnel
- Knowledge of state, UIL, and TMEA policies governing band activities
- Ability to interpret policy, procedures, and data
- Strong communication, public relations, and interpersonal skills
