Job Summary
Assistant Director, Austin Parks and Recreation: Lead and manage the department’s service operations, budgets, programs, and personnel across multiple divisions; oversee long-range planning, capital improvement, policy development, and compliance with Local, State, and Federal regulations; direct contracts, procurement, grants, and financial management; represent the department in city governance and community engagement; drive equity, performance management, and organizational development while coordinating with executive leadership to advance strategic priorities and department-wide efficiency.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Recreation and Parks Administration, Recreation and Resources Development, Public Administration, or a related field, plus five (5) years of progressively responsible upper management-level experience in public parks or recreation programs or a related field.
- Master’s degree from an accredited college or university may substitute for two (2) years of experience.
