Job Summary

Propose, develop, and implement AVMA policies and programs regarding veterinary research, specialty board certification, and the Veterinary Clinical Trials Registry. Provide primary professional staff support for the Council on Research, American Board of Veterinary Specialties, and Veterinary Specialty Organizations Committee while serving as principal administrator of the AVMA Veterinary Clinical Trials Registry. Collaborate with governance entities to execute duties, manage multiple projects and meetings simultaneously, and synthesize information for the scientific and non-scientific communities. This role requires a DVM/VMD with demonstrated knowledge of veterinary research and three years of work experience. The position offers a hybrid or remote environment with a 37.5-hour workweek and includes tuition reimbursement and pet insurance benefits.

Required Qualifications

  • DVM/VMD
  • Minimum of three years' work experience
  • Demonstrated knowledge of veterinary research
  • Excellent interpersonal & communication skills (written & verbal)
  • Ability to synthesize information & summarize clearly, logically & persuasively
  • Critical thinker & problem solver
  • Ability to interact & effectively communicate with members of the scientific & the non-scientific community; & the AVMA leadership & membership
  • Ability to manage multiple projects & meetings simultaneously
  • Ability to organize, plan & manage group meetings
  • Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office, Microsoft Teams & data management via OneDrive
  • Must be an AVMA member in good standing

Desired Qualifications

  • PhD &/or board certification in an AVMA-Recognized Veterinary Specialty Organization
  • Preferred knowledge of or experience in veterinary education
  • Knowledge of or willingness to learn about issues affecting veterinary specialty board certification
