Assistant Dining Services Director

Job Summary
Oversee all aspects of food service for residents, staff, and guests by assisting in hiring, training, supervising, and evaluating food service personnel. Prepare meals according to approved menus while accounting for special dietary needs and maintain quality standards within budget. Supervise dining staff to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local health regulations, sanitation requirements, and portion control. Monitor refrigerator and freezer temperatures three times daily, report faulty equipment or broken glassware to the supervisor, and ensure proper cooling and storage of leftovers. Conduct in-service training, participate in weekly cleaning routines, and develop knowledge of specific resident requests and diets. Work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays, standing for long periods and lifting up to 50 lbs regularly.
Required Qualifications
- Must be Serv-Safe certified, or be willing to become certified within 60 days of hiring
- Must have dining services experience in a management or leadership capacity
- Must have a working knowledge of ordering, storing, preparing and serving in a food service environment, preferably in a senior living community
- Must possess the ability to read, write, and make simple calculations
- Must be a quick learner and be able to effectively apply principles learned
- Must be able to follow verbal and written instructions
- Must be able to stand for long periods of time and withstand temperature extremes, wet and/or humid conditions and noise
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs on a regular basis or at least eight (8) times per shift
- Must be able to carry, pull or push heavy objects up to 20 feet
- Must be organized, and able to work well with others as part of a team
- Must be in a designated uniform during working hours and maintain good personal hygiene and neat public appearance
- Must be willing to work a flexible schedule to include evenings, weekends, and holidays
