Job Summary
Assistant Dietary Manager in a Skilled Nursing Facility to support the Dietary Manager in overseeing daily food-service operations, ensuring food quality, safety, and regulatory compliance while providing leadership to the dietary team. Responsibilities include recruiting, training, coaching, and evaluating staff; developing and managing work schedules; collaborating with facility staff, physicians, consultants, and vendors; maintaining records for personnel, inventory, and equipment; overseeing food production to meet standardized recipes and therapeutic diet requirements; managing specialized nourishments and nutrition documentation; enforcing HACCP-based safety and sanitation practices; updating dietary records and resident nutritional profiles; assisting in care planning and MDS documentation; and applying regulations affecting healthcare food-service standards. Skills emphasized include staff motivation and supervision, effective written and oral communication, intermediate computer and organizational abilities, and knowledge of healthcare regulations.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma
- Post-Secondary Undergraduate Education preferred, but not required
- Prior experience in healthcare food service or a supervisory role is highly desired
