Job Summary
Assistant Department Manager (Tile) oversees training and development of Product Sales Specialists, delivers excellent customer service, and ensures proper merchandising and pricing of the department. Responsibilities include certifying product specialists, managing inventory placement and pricing, directing display setup, assisting customers with product selections, processing transactions at POS, handling refunds and exchanges, delivering product demonstrations, and maintaining safe forklift operations. The role requires strong communication, multitasking in a fast-paced retail environment, and the ability to train staff, greet customers, and uphold company safety standards. Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- 1 year of customer service/sales experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Demonstrated understanding of merchandising, pricing, and inventory
- Ability to complete forklift (Industrial Truck) proficiency testing and certification
- Ability to process customers at checkout using POS system
- Ability to stock and tag merchandise displays
- Ability to provide product knowledge and customer assistance
- Understanding of store policies and procedures
- Ability to train and direct Product Sales Specialists
- Ability to present how-to classes to customers
- Understanding of basic P’s of retail (People, Position, Product, Presentation, Price, Promotion, Purchasing)
- Understanding of safety practices and safe lifting procedures
