Job Summary
Assistant Delivery Manager responsible for overseeing delivery operations and team, including route optimization, driver management, and communication with internal teams. Ensures efficient, timely, and cost-effective delivery services while maintaining compliance with regulatory requirements and company policies. Key duties include optimizing routes to reduce hours of service on troubled routes, tracking delivery stops and times for efficiency, reviewing fleet performance and coordinating maintenance, assisting with driver training and onboarding, conducting driver meetings and coaching, daily driver check-ins, enforcing DOT requirements, coordinating daily re-deliveries, updating delivery schedules, auditing returns and truck inspections, supporting dock operations during loadout, maintaining open communication with drivers to address concerns, handling vehicle accident reports and insurance claims, and managing citations/moving violations.
Required Qualifications
- Proven experience in delivery operations.
- Strong leadership and organizational skills.
- Knowledge of route planning and optimization.
- Experience with driver training, auditing, and compliance enforcement.
- Knowledge of DOT regulations and fleet maintenance best practices.
- Strong communication and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency in relevant software (e.g., Paylocity, routing systems).
- The ability to occasionally go out on the road to assist drivers when there are issues.
- Clean driving history and able to obtain and maintain a DOT medical card.
