Job Summary
Manage and lead the deli team by assisting the Deli Manager in merchandising for maximum productivity, coordinating production and sales through planning and goal setting, and overseeing inventory controls and product quality. Direct hiring, training, and development of staff while ensuring strict adherence to health, safety, and sanitation guidelines. Operate deli equipment including slicers and cooking machines, unload deliveries, and maintain all equipment in safe working condition. Validate that team members follow federal, state, and company regulations regarding product freshness, weights, and measures. Work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays, prioritizing multiple tasks while interacting with customers to take special orders and answer phones.
Required Qualifications
- Be at least 18 years of age
- Preferred 2 years supervisory experience
- Strong knowledge of deli or related food service
- Dependable and reliable
- Ability to work a flexible schedule that changes as the business changes; including nights, weekends and holidays
- Strong good communication skills both written and verbal
- Ability to take and give direction
- Ability to participate in a team environment

- Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks
- Must be able to lift/carry product horizontally/vertically weighing up to 70 lbs., from 4" to 60", for a distance up to 20 feet without mechanical assistance for up to 4 hours
- Must be able to stand for up to 4 hour continuously, for a total of 8 hours per shift
- Ability to operate a slicer, wrapping and cooking equipment
- Ability to assist in maintaining all equipment in safe working condition
- Ability to perform other related duties as assigned
