Job Summary
Assistant Dean of Students and Director of Residence Life leads a comprehensive residential life program for 1,100+ students, overseeing housing operations, occupancy management, student conduct processes, and staff development. The role partners with Academic Affairs, Counseling Services, Campus Safety, Facilities, and Enrollment Management to support student learning, well-being, belonging, retention, and inclusive campus life. Responsibilities include crisis response, policy development, housing education initiatives, on-call coverage, and collaboration on campus climate and student success initiatives. Qualifications emphasize a master’s degree in a related field, progressive supervision of professional and paraprofessional staff, experience in housing operations and residence-life programming, crisis management, budget oversight, and a commitment to inclusive excellence.
Required Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Higher Education, College Student Personnel, Counseling, Educational Leadership, or a related field
- progressive supervisory and housing experience in higher education
- demonstrated success leading residential life programs
- supervisory experience of professional and paraprofessional staff
- experience supporting student success, retention, and well-being initiatives
- knowledge of student development theory and residential education practices
- experience with crisis management, behavioral intervention, and student conduct administration
- ability to collaborate across campus divisions and departments
- strong organizational, communication, and conflict resolution skills
- experience with budget oversight, housing operations, occupancy management, and facilities coordination
- commitment to inclusive excellence and diverse campus community
- experience using housing management systems and data-informed decision making
