Job Summary
Open the building in the morning and secure it in the afternoon. Operate heating and air conditioning systems, replace light fixtures, and maintain ventilation. Supervise custodial staff, assign duties, and inspect work while reporting daily conditions to the principal. Manage inventory for janitorial supplies, cut and maintain school grounds, and remove trash. Perform light maintenance including minor repairs, glass fixes, and painting. Check fire and playground equipment, report vandalism immediately, and raise the flag. Set up for assemblies and coordinate with administrators and contractors. Work eight-hour days with occasional weekend and split shifts.
Required Qualifications
- Must be able to read and write effectively
- Must be able to comprehend instruction on operation of equipment of all types
- Must be able to use chemicals
- Must have the ability to perform light maintenance functions
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds
- Must be available for Saturday and Sunday
- Must be available for overtime
- Must be available for split shift
- Must be able to climb 6, 8, 10, and 12 foot step ladder, extension ladder, stairs and scaffolding
- Must be able to perform trunk flexion and squatting
- Must be able to coordinate two and three person lifting
- Must be able to interface with all levels of administrators
- Must be able to interface with contractors
- Must be able to resolve personnel disputes with fairness
