Job Summary
Assistant Cook/Production & Utility (6 hours per day) assists in all areas of production, serving and cleanup, with possible cashier duties during lunch. Works under the Kitchen Manager in Grand Rapids Public Schools within the Food and Nutrition department. Requires willingness to learn food production, sanitation, and food handling procedures; emphasizes dependable attendance, teamwork, professional appearance, and positive interactions with scholars, parents, and the community. Part-time role with a focus on collaboration, training, and contributing to a productive work environment.
Required Qualifications
- Food service production experience or the ability to learn
- Willingness to be trained in all areas of food production
- Knowledge of or willingness to learn proper sanitation and food handling procedures
- Dependable attendance and punctuality
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
- Professional appearance in accordance with Departmental Uniform and Personal Hygiene guidelines
- Ability to collaborate effectively with scholars and staff
- Encouragement for individuals with limited English skills to apply
