Job Summary
Prepare and distribute congregate meals for seniors while maintaining sanitary standards and proper food temperature control per NYC DOHMH regulations. Clean kitchen areas and equipment, manage inventory, and oversee safe handling of prepared foods. In the absence of the Cook, assume full responsibility for food-related areas and equipment maintenance. Develop meal recipes, introduce new options to seniors, and conduct culinary classes. Inspect food deliveries for freshness and portion control in accordance with USDA and DFTA guidelines.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Food Handler's Protection Certificate
- Able to prepare nutritious and appealing meals
- Able to operate independently in the Cook's absence
- Able to travel to multiple locations within the five boroughs as needed
- Frequently lifts and/or moves up to 25 pounds
Desired Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalency preferred but not required
- Previous experience in a commercial kitchen preferred
