Job Summary
Assistant Cook assists the Head Cook with food preparation, service, and cleanup for the school lunch program, operating kitchen equipment and ensuring sanitation and safety; manages kitchen supply and inventory, and supports a culturally centered, dual-language (Tewa/English) school environment. Requires a high school diploma or GED, at least 6 months of experience, ability to obtain a Food Handler Certificate and complete 6 CEUs of educational food training, and full COVID-19 vaccination with a background check completed. Location is Española, NM within Kha'p'o Community School; on-site kitchen duties under the Head Cook.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Minimum of 6 months experience as a cook or assistant cook
- Food Handler Certificate (or willingness to obtain)
- 6 CEUs of educational food training
- Fully vaccinated against COVID-19
- Pass comprehensive background check
